STARTER: Figs with Cheese and Parma Ham

This is lovely and simple to prepare. You can make it about half an hour before your guests arrive to eat and the individual plates on the table are a lovely welcoming sight for you guests.


Serves 8

  • 8 figs
  • 400g soft goats cheese or feta, crumbled or chopped into small chunks - if you prefer a hard cheese try thin slices of parmesan or emmental for a change
  • 8 slices of parma ham
  • 8 handfuls of salad leaves - baby spinach and rocket make a good combination 


  • 6 tablespoons olive oil balsamic vinegar 


1. Trim the stalks from the figs and cut the figs into four wedges.

2. Arrange all the ingredients either on 8 individual plates or on one large serving plate or platter

3. Prepare the dressing by simply whisking the vinegar and oil together. Serve in a jug so that people can have as much or as little as they like.
