Over 5,000 children die every day as a result of unsafe drinking water and lack of sanitation.
At Pump Aid we believe that access to clean water is a fundamental human right. Provision of clean water for rural communities in Africa, means that people can lead a healthy and productive life. Children are able to attend a full day at school, instead of fetching water from far away, open sources. Villagers in rural communities can utilise the clean water source for drinking, washing and irrigation that can lead to generating income from their vegetable crops.
Pump Aid was developed by three teachers living and working in rural Zimbabwe, where they saw first hand how unsafe, open sources of water affected the community. They developed the award winning Elephant Pump, which is a low cost solution providing clean water to rural communities.
